A Simple Visual Planning System
Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.
– Goethe
Your main goal now is to make sure that the projects and actions you have selected by writing them down on post-its become real priorities that stay current and guide you through your daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly schedules.
One major recommendation: make it a visual system easily accessible at any time.
Daily review: tasks and to do lists
Every day, you can review each current project and ask yourself this question:
Q70-What am I going to do today for this project?
You just have to decide the actions you need to take on each of the Big Rocks and add them to your to-do List or your weekly agenda. They become your MITs (More Important Tasks) for the day.
Weekly Review
The goal is to check how well you performed on the daily habits and the projects.
If you missed too many routines, then consider removing one as it might be a sign that it is getting too difficult to stick to all of them.
On the other hand, if you feel it is becoming too easy, then you could consider adding one new habit or making one more difficult
Have a look at the Big Rocks and check if you are on track or at risk of running late. If you are late, you can have a look at next week’s agenda and decide to free up some time, eliminating the not-so-important tasks, projects or meetings, to add more tasks from the Big Rocks.
You can also decide to remove one Big Rock and reschedule it or split it into several smaller projects.
Monthly review
The main difference is here you should also focus on the Level 10 Life wheel and check if the Big Rocks and habits achieved during the month have changed the situation.
Hopefully, you can raise the level of a segment.
You can also check how the other segments are doing and if there is a risk that one of them is slipping. If it occurs, you might consider what habit, action or project you would need to add to get back to the previous level.
*Example
Here is the version I now use. It has changed many times and I keep changing it from time to time
